Behold this majestic art print titled "Friendship, Unity, and True Christian Charity", an Ancient Order of Hibernians of America certificate of membership published in 1894.

The AOH is an Irish Catholic fraternal organization founded in 1836 at St. James Church in New York City, near the old Five Points neighborhood. The Order can trace its roots back to a series of similar secret societies that existed in Ireland in the 16th century born of a need to protect the welfare of fellow Irish Catholics and keep the Catholic faith alive after the imposition of King Henry VIII and the Church of England. In the United States the Order saw to the aid of newly arrived Irish immigrants and promoted Irish heritage and culture, and was involved in the welfare of Irish Americans who faced discrimination or harsh coal mine working conditions. Many chapters are still active across the United States today.

The artwork is printed with a surrounding white margin (included in print size) to aid in framing/matting the print. Your purchase will ship priority mail (US) in a protective kraft tube made from 70-100% post-consumer recycled content and up to 30% secondary recycled content.

Given the nature of vintage artwork created before the standardization of print and frame sizes, this item may not conform exactly to the dimensions you choose. To allow for the odd sizing of these images they are printed approximately 2 inches smaller than the paper they are on. This way you receive a standard size, with a white surrounding border that allows for easy framing, with or without a matte.
