Behold the splendor of this architectural drawing of "Cross Section of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul the Apostle" - a 1666 design for the St. Paul's Cathedral of London by Sir Christopher Wren, who had begun advising on the repair of Old St. Paul's, completed in 1240. Wren created this design to replace the dome, using the old dome as a scaffolding for the replacement.

Unfortunately, the Great Fire of London in 1666 gutted and destroyed 4/5th's of the city numerous churches, including St. Paul's. Wren was commissioned to rebuild over 50 of them. This particular design was never built, as the Old St. Paul's was demolished, and replaced by the cathedral that stands today.

This print is a high resolution scan of the original print and is truly an amazing image perfect for framing. It makes an excellent addition to your home or office, and is a perfect gift for the architectural aficionado in your life.
